The Dermagen Clinic offers a range of cosmetic medical treatments tailored to treat pigmentation, sun damage and pre-canerous skin conditions.
Specialised treatments for chronic skin conditions
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that is now used worldwide. It uses a light-sensitive solution (ALA activator) which is applied to the affected skin. The skin is then exposed to a specialised light source leading to the destruction of the damaged skin cells.
Photodynamic therapy can safely clear multiple cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions from a large area of skin in a single treatment session. More than one treatment may be required in some cases of severe sun damage or more advanced skin lesions. PDT is also an effective treatment for acne.
Specialised treatments for sun damage, pigmentation & pre-canerous skin conditions
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective treatment for patients who may have cancerous, precancerous or severe sun damage, including sunspots or solar keratosis. The treatment can successfully treat large areas of skin, only destroying abnormal cells without damaging normal skin.
The therapy uses a light sensitive solution (ALA), coupled with LED light treatment. Some patients experience stinging and redness. Skin flaking will occur in the days following the treatment and patients should avoid sun exposure.
Intense Pulse Light Therapy
For the treatment of pigmentation, rosacea and broken capillaries
IPL (intensive pulsed light) therapy delivers pulses of light that helps in the removal of hair, the treatment of pigmentation and to boost collagen. It is a non-invasive treatment that is suitable to use on most areas of the body.
IPL technology can be configured to emit a variety of wavelengths to effectively treat a number of skin conditions.
